According to AfterEllen readers, 2013 was actually The Year of Zoie Palmer.
Nine years ago, we began handing out yearly Visibility Awards to the actresses, characters, movies, and TV personalities that promoted positive visibility for gay and bi women. Last year, The AfterEllen Visibility logged nearly one million votes. Now it’s finally time to open the door for you to nominate your favorites for 2013. You can click on each category and leave your nominations in the comments section of the individual posts. Voting will be open until Sunday, December 15th and on Monday, December 16th, we’ll announce the official nominees for each category and you can begin campaigning for your favorites.
With only four days left to vote for Best Comedy in the AfterEllen Visibility Awards, Modern Family and Parks and Recreation are only separated by a handful of votes. (Both are dominating Glee.) Are you voting for Claire Dunphy or Leslie Knope? (Or the new underdog Santana Lopez?)
Don’t you desert Betty too! She’s making a strong stand against Santana and Paige in the AfterEllen Visibility Awards for Best Les/Bi Character!
The race for Favorite TV Comedy is really heating up over at the Visibility Awards. There’s practically a three-way tie right now between Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, and Glee. So we’re posting some of our favorite scenes from all three shows today on the Tumblr machines. Up first, Leslie Knope meets Senators Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe. Parks and Rec may not be the gayest show on TV, but it’s certainly one of the most female empowering!
Our sixth and final contender for the Hottest Hookup Visibility Award is Sam and Lexy from Lip Service. Mourning the loss of your girlfriend who got hit by a car while texting the woman she was cheating on you with never looked so good!
Hey, Bo and Lauren, what makes you think Lost Girl deserves the Hottest Hookup trophy in the AfterEllen Visibility Awards?
